Hardscaping Project: Catonsville Blue Colonial Pennsylvania Steppers

Pro Landscapes MD completed a detailed and challenging natural stone step project in Catonsville using 4-6” thick blue colonial Pennsylvania steppers. This customer requested precise specifications for step height and a refined look, which required a meticulous approach to achieve the desired finish.

Project Overview:

Unlike the more rustic look often preferred for natural stone steps, this project called for uniformity and exact leveling for a polished appearance. The original concrete steps were removed, and a custom installation of blue colonial steppers began from the base up, ensuring each step met the customer’s specific requirements.

Our Approach:

• Concrete Removal: The existing concrete steps were jackhammered and removed, preparing the space for the new stone steps.
• Layered Step Installation: Each step was set in sequence, starting from the bottom, with small flagstone slivers inserted along the step faces as leveling agents to achieve consistent height across all steps.
• Precise Height & Finish: We took extra care to ensure each step matched the customer’s height requirements, resulting in a uniform, sophisticated look uncommon in natural stone step installations.
