Aquatic Gardening Project: Columbia Bog & Riverbed
Transforming a yard with sustainable solutions for beauty and functionality is at the heart of Pro Landscapes MD. This Columbia Bog & Riverbed project provided an environmentally friendly answer to the customer’s water runoff issues, creating a natural aquatic habitat and vibrant ecosystem.
Project Overview:
The customer faced challenges with excessive water flow through the yard, spilling from neighboring properties and impacting the landscape. Pro Landscapes MD designed and installed a dry riverbed that channels runoff into a bog, creating a sustainable solution that supports local wildlife and controls water flow.
Our Sustainable Approach:
- Dry Riverbed: Serves as a natural pathway for water, guiding it into the bog while minimizing erosion and landscape disturbance.
- Bog Installation: The bog acts as a reservoir, providing a wetland habitat for aquatic life, including native frogs and turtles, while managing excess water sustainably.
- Pollinator Garden: Surrounding the bog, a deer-resistant pollinator garden was carefully crafted to attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees, enhancing biodiversity.
Highlights:
- Eco-Friendly Design: This project focused on sustainability, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem that invites both wildlife and pollinators.
- Deer-Resistant Landscape: The choice of native and deer-resistant plants ensures long-lasting beauty with minimal intervention.
- Customer Satisfaction: The customer was thrilled with the transformation, enjoying a thriving natural space that combines function, aesthetics, and a haven for wildlife.
At Pro Landscapes MD, we’re passionate about sustainable landscaping projects that foster biodiversity and environmental stewardship. This project stands as a testament to our dedication to creating outdoor spaces that harmonize with nature, and it remains one of our owner’s favorite projects.
